Bioeconomic modeling of oyster farming in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan

Rational management is required for the profitability of Japanese aquaculture industry and to promote investment in industry. Although bioeconomic modeling could facilitate rational management, it has not been applied marine aquaculture. In present study, we developed a model oyster farming Miyagi prefecture, Japan, determined optimal harvest schedules under labor constraints. Low, moderate, high temperature scenarios were simulated investigate effects changes seawater on farm productivity. Early initiation harvest, particularly from late October or early November, achieved maximum profit environmental economic conditions study. The moderate scenario (current conditions) had total (962,890 JPY) when was initiated 29. lower profits than current conditions, indicating that climate change have adverse prefecture.
